Municipal waste rules:
Waste services in Assens Municipality are handled by Assens Forsyning. Residents sort waste into fractions such as plastic, glass, cardboard and food waste. Bulky waste and textile waste can be ordered for collection, while hazardous waste is collected in a municipal environmental box. Collection calendars and reminders are available online, and recycling centres accept additional waste types.

Assens Forsyning operates the waste schemes
Assens Forsyning handles collection of recyclable fractions and residual waste and operates the municipality's recycling centres. The municipality refers residents to the utility's self-service for collection calendars, bins and sorting guidance.
Household bins
Households use, among other things, a split bin for food and residual waste, a split bin for paper/cardboard and metal/glass, and a bin for plastic and food and beverage cartons. The schemes are mandatory for ordinary households.
Six recycling centres and Helnæs 24-hour recycling point
Assens, Haarby and Vissenbjerg are large recycling centres that accept the widest range of waste. Aarup, Glamsbjerg and Tommerup are smaller recycling centres, while Helnæs has a 24-hour recycling point for garden waste and recyclable packaging.
Bulky waste twice a year
Bulky waste is collected in fixed spring and autumn weeks after booking. The scheme covers selected types such as metal, furniture, carpets, mattresses and hard plastic, and normally allows up to six items.
Environmental box and hazardous waste
All households have an environmental box for hazardous waste. Hazardous waste, asbestos and hazardous construction waste must follow current rules and can only be delivered to selected recycling centres during staffed opening hours.
Garden waste and compost
Garden waste must be delivered to a recycling centre and must not be placed in household bins. At the recycling centres, garden waste is turned into compost that private residents can collect free of charge.
