In Billund Municipality, residents sort household waste into fractions such as food waste, plastic, paper, glass, metal and residual waste. Residents must use the containers and bags provided by the municipality. Hazardous waste can be collected in environmental boxes, and the municipality recommends using its waste portal or app for collection reminders and sorting guidance. Bulky waste and garden waste can be delivered to recycling stations.

The municipality has recycling centres in Grindsted, Billund, Vorbasse, Filskov and Sdr. Omme. Billund and Grindsted accept the widest range of waste types and have staff on site.
To use the unstaffed recycling centres in Filskov, Sdr. Omme, Vorbasse and Billund, residents must register in the access system and be approved.
Hazardous waste can be collected through the hazardous-waste box or delivered at recycling centres that accept it. The smaller sites do not accept all hazardous waste types.
Construction waste above 1 tonne must be reported through self-service. Roofing sheets must follow the separate scheme, where Billund Vand & Energi can collect them.
At the recycling centre, materials must be sorted into clean fractions. Cardboard and paper are placed in separate containers, even if they share a compartment at home.
