Hørsholm Municipality is located in scenic North Zealand and is known for green areas and attractive residential neighbourhoods. It combines nature experiences and modern facilities close to the capital region.
In Hørsholm Municipality, waste is sorted into fractions such as plastic, paper, glass, metal, food waste, residual waste and hazardous waste. The municipality provides containers that households must use according to local regulations and access requirements. Bulky waste, garden waste and electronics have separate schemes, and residents can sign up for SMS reminders about collection days.

Bulky waste is a voluntary service. From 2025, the scheme changed with new fractions, new collection days and the option of collection every 8 weeks depending on district and booking.
Hørsholm Municipality does not have a garden-waste collection scheme. Garden waste can instead be delivered to Norfors recycling centres, composted on private property or handled through a private collector.
Hazardous waste and fibre cement sheets may only be delivered at the recycling centre when staff are present. Pressure cylinders and spray cans must always be sorted as hazardous waste.
At selected Norfors sites, including Containerhaven, there is a Genbrugshytte where items and furniture for direct reuse can be handed in and passed on through charitable organisations.
Housing associations and properties with shared containers may have special solutions. Each household may deliver up to 200 kg hazardous waste per year at the recycling centre.
