In Odense Municipality, residents sort waste into ten fractions, including food waste, residual waste, paper and small cardboard, glass and metal, plastic, food and beverage cartons, hazardous waste and textiles. Food waste is collected in green bio bags, and glass and metal are sorted together. Batteries and small electronics are delivered separately through environmental boxes or recycling stations. Odense Municipality has eight recycling stations that accept waste every day of the week. Residents can hand in more than 40 different waste fractions at the recycling stations.
Bulky waste and large reusable items must be booked through Odense Renovation self-service or customer service. Reusable items can also be placed in the Zirkel container at recycling stations.
Hazardous waste must not go in residual waste or be poured down drains. Odense Renovation can collect hazardous waste and small electronics through the red box, and small electronics can also be handed in at the large recycling stations.
Zirkel is Odense Renovation’s reuse universe with a reuse shop and shared warehouse. Reusable items are collected through black Zirkel containers at all eight recycling stations.
