Odsherred Municipality is located on Zealand’s northwest coast and is known for its distinctive nature, designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark. The municipality focuses on tourism, art and local communities.
In Odsherred Municipality, waste is sorted into fractions such as food/residual waste, plastic, paper, metal, glass, cardboard and hazardous waste. Residents may use individual, shared or neighbourhood waste solutions depending on housing type. Recyclables must be sorted correctly, and the municipality offers a sorting guide and SMS reminders. Recycling centres accept hazardous waste and bulky waste, and special bags for extra waste can be purchased in selected shops.

Food waste must be packed in a bag and placed in the food-waste bin. In Odsherred, ordinary waste bags can be used because they are easier to separate than bioplastic bags.
The Large household items and textile waste scheme has replaced the former bulky waste and garden waste scheme. It is used for selected larger items and textile waste collected according to the municipality's rules.
Residents and holiday-home owners can use the municipality's recycling centres, where each site has around 40 waste types and areas for direct reuse. Food and residual waste are not accepted at the recycling centres.
Waste in sacks may only be handed in using clear sacks, otherwise it may be rejected. Recycling centres and the garden-waste site are for vehicles up to 3,500 kg plus a trailer.
Construction waste must be reported if you have more than 1 tonne of waste or 10 m2 of building waste. From 2025, asbestos may only be removed by authorised professionals.
