In Randers Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions, including food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, glass, metal, plastic, textiles, hazardous waste and food and beverage cartons. Residents receive containers that support sorting, and the municipality works to increase recycling and reduce environmental impact. The AffaldRanders app provides collection reminders and sorting guidance, bulky waste can be ordered, and recycling centres accept waste not collected at home.

All households must sort waste into 10 fractions. At home, collections include food waste, residual waste, paper and cardboard, glass and metal, and plastic with food and beverage cartons.
Food waste is food that cannot be eaten, whether raw, cooked or too old. Garden waste, dead animals and waste from kitchen grinders must not go in food waste.
Hazardous waste can be collected in an environmental box. Batteries can be placed in the box or in a clear freezer bag on top of your own waste bin if you have an individual bin.
Bulky waste must be booked no later than three working days before collection and placed out clearly sorted. The scheme covers household items such as furniture, cardboard, electronics, textiles, iron and metal, soft plastic and various small items.
Randers Municipality has four recycling centres in Randers, Asferg, Langå and Øster Tørslev. You can hand in sorted waste there, except residual waste and food waste.
Randers supports direct reuse through initiatives such as Finderiet, Langå IgenBrug, No. 17 and GenLageret, where materials and items can get a longer life.
