Practical waste information

Municipal waste rules

In Solrød Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions: food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste. The municipality’s waste scheme focuses on recycling and provides containers for each waste type. Residents are encouraged to use the recycling station for bulky waste and hazardous waste. The scheme is part of the municipality’s waste plan, which aims to reduce waste and promote reuse and recycling.

Waste services

Waste and household collection

Solrød Municipality gathers self-service and guidance about waste, household collection, food-waste bins, recycling centres, construction waste and related topics under waste, environment, drinking water and wastewater.

Sorting into 10 waste types

Household waste is sorted into 10 fractions, including food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste.

ARGO recycling centres

Solrød Municipality does not have its own municipal recycling centre. Residents can freely use ARGO's recycling centres, with access via number-plate scanner at the entrance.

Hazardous waste and asbestos

Hazardous waste must be handled separately. Smaller amounts of asbestos waste can be handed in at ARGO's recycling centres according to the rules, while larger or reportable amounts must be reported to the municipality.

Construction and demolition waste

Construction and demolition waste must be reported to the municipality if there is more than 1 tonne of waste, or if sealed glazing units from 1950-1977 are replaced. Reporting is done via Bygningsaffald.dk.

Selective demolition

From 1 July 2025, rules on selective demolition apply to larger demolitions and renovations of 250 m2 or more, so materials and hazardous substances are sorted correctly from the start.
