Practical waste information

Municipal waste rules

In Brøndby Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions, including food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste. Detached and terraced houses typically use divided containers, and each fraction has specific sorting requirements. Hazardous waste is collected in an environmental box, while larger cardboard, metal and bulky items can be delivered to the recycling station or collected through bulky waste schemes.

Waste from apartments

All households must sort everyday waste into food waste, residual waste, plastic, paper, metal, glass and cardboard. In housing areas, the solution may be shared waste islands, chutes or bulky-waste yards.

Food waste

Food waste must be packed in green bags, which can be collected from the property office in housing departments. The bag must be tied before being placed in the bin.

The recycling station

Brøndby Recycling Station at Sydgårdsvej 21 accepts waste not covered by household or bulky-waste schemes, such as hazardous waste, construction waste, sanitary ware, mirrors and windows.

Clear sacks and reuse house

Waste at the recycling station must be sorted beforehand, and waste in sacks must be handed in using clear sacks. The recycling station also has a reuse house for items others may benefit from.
