In Favrskov Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions, including food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste. Food and residual waste are collected regularly, while recyclable fractions are collected on separate schedules. Hazardous waste is placed in a red box for collection when needed. The Affald Favrskov app provides collection dates and sorting guidance.

The new sorting scheme covers 10 waste types. In the Affald Favrskov app, residents can see the next collection date, find the nearest recycling centre and get sorting help.
Favrskov has recycling centres in Hadsten, Hammel, Hinnerup and Hvorslev. Almost all waste types can be handed in there, but not household refuse.
Bagged waste must be handed in using clear plastic sacks. Recycling-centre staff can help find the correct container if residents are unsure.
Hammel and Hvorslev have extended self-service opening hours, requiring registration. Certain waste types, including hazardous waste, batteries and asbestos, may not be handed in during self-service hours.
Gi' & Ta' helps usable items move on to others. Favrskov Forsyning's former bulky-waste collection scheme has ended, so larger items are typically taken to recycling centres or handled through reuse options.
