Waste services

Fredensborg Forsyning and the municipality

Fredensborg Forsyning is responsible for collection of household refuse, bulky waste, garden waste, glass, paper and other practical waste schemes. The municipality is the waste authority and sets regulations and fees.

Recycling centres and Norfors

Fredensborg Municipality is part of Norfors' recycling-centre scheme. The regulation covers access to recycling centres in municipalities such as Allerød, Fredensborg, Hørsholm and Rudersdal, and hazardous waste may only be delivered when staff are present.

Garden waste

Garden waste can be composted on your own property, delivered to a recycling centre or collected through the municipal garden-waste subscription with Fredensborg Affald from 1 April to 31 October. Burning garden waste is generally not permitted.

Construction waste

Construction and demolition waste must be reported if there is more than 1 tonne of waste or if the waste comes from a building or facility larger than 10 m2. The report must reach the municipality at least 2 weeks before work starts.

Asbestos and hazardous waste

Asbestos waste must be reported to the municipality unless it is a small amount. Højvangen Recycling Centre does not accept fibre-cement roof sheets, and dusty asbestos-containing waste is directed according to municipal rules.

More direct reuse

The 2024-2025 waste implementation plan points toward more direct reuse at recycling centres, including reuse areas and opportunities for reusable building materials.
