Practical waste information

Municipal waste rules

In Frederiksberg Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions, including food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste. Villa areas typically use four containers, including divided containers for food/residual waste and plastic/cartons. Hazardous waste is collected in a red environmental box, and the municipality offers sorting guides and app support.

Waste services

Kerbside collection

Frederiksberg charges waste fees for residual waste and recyclable fractions such as food waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, textiles, hazardous waste and recycling centres. Collection calendars and missed collections are handled through the municipality's self-service.

Bulky waste and special collections

For apartment buildings, the property owner or waste manager must order bulky waste collection. The municipality's digital handbook also covers ordering collection of hazardous waste, glass and garden waste.

Hazardous waste and batteries

Batteries must be placed in the hazardous waste cabinet or red environmental box together with hazardous waste. Frederiksberg states that batteries can also still be handed in at the recycling centre.

Bispeengen Recycling Centre

The recycling centre at Bispeengen 35 accepts most types of waste and has a reuse area where usable items can be handed in or picked up.
