Practical waste information

Municipal waste rules

In Gribskov Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions, including food waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, food and beverage cartons, textiles, hazardous waste and residual waste. Households use divided containers for food/residual waste and recyclables, while glass is delivered separately to glass containers. Hazardous waste is collected in a red environmental box, and textile waste uses special bags. The waste app provides guidance and collection reminders.

Waste services

Gribskov Forsyning handles waste services

Gribskov Forsyning A/S handles waste collection and operates the municipality’s recycling stations. Questions about collection and recycling stations are therefore handled by the utility company.

Sorting at home

Households sort according to the national waste types, including food/residual waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, food and beverage cartons, textile waste and hazardous waste.

Environmental box and textile bags

Year-round homes receive a red environmental box for hazardous waste and bags for textile waste. Holiday homes must follow the separate instructions for handing in hazardous waste and textile waste.

Recycling stations

Gribskov Municipality has recycling stations in Skærød near Helsinge and Højelt near Græsted. Sorted waste that does not belong in ordinary bins can be handed in there.

Construction waste and fibre-cement sheets

Construction and demolition waste from renovation or demolition must be reported if more than 1 tonne of waste is produced. Fibre-cement sheets must be packed airtight, and no more than 10 sheets per project may be handed in without reporting.

Fireworks and hazardous waste

Unused fireworks and misfired fireworks can be handed in at the recycling stations. Staff in the hazardous-waste building must be contacted when fireworks are handed in.
