Waste services

REFA handles waste collection

Guldborgsund Municipality refers residents to REFA for bins, bags, prices, collection dates, recycling centres, garden waste, bulky waste and self-service.

Food waste

Food waste is sorted in green bags, tied with a knot and placed in the food-waste bin. The bags are made from recycled plastic, and residents may use their own plastic bags if they run out.

Bulky waste

Bulky waste must be booked through REFA. The waste must be placed out sorted and must not be handed in using cardboard boxes or coloured bags.

Recycling centres

REFA operates the recycling centres in Guldborgsund Municipality, including Nykøbing Falster, Nørre Alslev, Nysted, Sakskøbing, Stubbekøbing, Marielyst and Øster Toreby.

Hazardous waste

Hazardous waste must be handled separately according to the municipality's rules. Loose hazardous waste can only be handed in at selected recycling centres, and environmental boxes must be filled in correctly to be exchanged.

Construction waste and burning waste

Construction waste must be reported through the municipality's scheme. Treated wood must not be used as firewood, and garden waste must generally not be burned but should be composted or handed in correctly.
