Municipal waste rules
In Holbæk Municipality, waste is sorted into ten trash categories, including plastic, paper, glass, metal, food waste and residual waste. Fors A/S administers the waste scheme and provides containers for households. Food waste must be handled without kitchen grinders to avoid pest issues. Bulky waste and garden waste can be collected, and hazardous waste can be delivered to recycling centres. The Mit Affald app provides reminders and sorting help.

Sorting guidance
Fors provides a searchable web guide, printable booklet and the Mit affald app for iPhone and Android. The app includes item lookup, dates, recycling centres and contact options.
Bulky waste
Bulky waste is booked with MitID online or in the app. From 1 October 2026 it can be booked four times yearly and must be sorted and placed out under Fors rules.
Hazardous waste
Small amounts use the environmental box, collected with booked bulky waste. It may weigh up to 4 kg. Hazardous waste is also accepted during staffed recycling-centre hours.
Garden waste and composting
Garden waste can be booked for collection with bulky waste or taken to recycling centres year-round. Fors also provides advice on using it at home.
