Municipal waste rules

In Læsø Municipality, household waste is sorted into food/residual waste, paper/cardboard, plastic/metal, glass and textile waste. Food and residual waste are collected every two weeks, while paper/cardboard and plastic/metal are collected on separate schedules. Glass and hazardous waste must be delivered to the recycling centre or special containers. Læsø Forsyning provides red bags for hazardous waste, which can be placed on top of the container for collection.

Læsø Forsyning handles the practical waste schemes on the island, including collection, sorting guidance, the recycling centre, hazardous waste and information about waste bins.

Sorting into 10 fractions

Læsø Municipality and Læsø Forsyning use sorting into the national waste fractions, keeping food and residual waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, textiles and hazardous waste separate.

Læsø Recycling Centre

Læsø Recycling Centre is located by Kokvadgårdsvej in Byrum and accepts large items, garden waste, electronics, furniture, textiles and waste that does not belong in household bins.

Red bags for hazardous waste

Læsø Forsyning provides red bags for small amounts of hazardous waste. The bag can be placed on top of the waste bin on collection day, while larger or special hazardous waste must be delivered at the recycling centre.

Medicine, needles and ammunition

Medicine residues and needles must be delivered at the pharmacy or to staff at the recycling centre. Cartridges and ammunition must be handed in to the police.

Construction waste and asbestos

Construction waste must be reported to the municipality when required by the rules. Asbestos-containing waste must be reported to Læsø Forsyning before delivery.
