Municipal waste rules
In Næstved Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten categories: food waste, paper, cardboard, glass, metal, plastic, residual waste, hazardous waste, damaged textiles and food and beverage cartons. The scheme is designed to increase recycling and reduce waste sent to incineration. Hazardous waste can be collected in a special environmental box, and recycling centres accept larger items such as electronics and building materials. The NK Affald app provides sorting guidance and collection reminders.

Municipal waste service information
Sorting guidance
NK Affald supports waste search and scanning with local rules. Min side provides a printable calendar and scheme information for residents without smartphones.
Bulky waste
Bulky waste can be booked every 14 days at least three weekdays ahead. Up to 12 sorted units are collected; cardboard is bundled and small items use clear sacks.
Hazardous waste
The environmental box is exchanged after booking in Min side or NK Affald and placed at the boundary before 7:00. Larger or unsuitable hazardous waste goes to a recycling centre.
Garden waste and composting
From 1 April 2026 garden-waste collection must be booked by the preceding Wednesday. Up to six bundles, paper sacks or bin units are collected; roots, soil and fallen fruit are excluded.
