Municipal waste rules
In Nordfyns Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten trash categories, including food waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass and textiles. Households use divided containers to make sorting easier, and food waste can be collected in green bags. Holiday homes typically sort food and residual waste at the property, while other waste types are delivered to local recycling stations. The AffaldNordfyn app provides collection reminders and sorting guidance.

Sorting guidance
The searchable guide is available online and in AffaldNordfyn and covers household and recycling-centre rules. An illustrated eight-page printable guide is also available.
Bulky waste
Bulky waste is booked in the app or self-service when residents cannot transport it. Up to eight units are collected per fee; each clear sack may contain one waste type only.
Hazardous waste
The red environmental box is obtained at recycling centres and can be exchanged at home once in March and once in October when booked. Contents can always be delivered directly.
Garden waste and composting
An optional 240-litre garden-waste bin is collected every four weeks. Garden waste also goes to recycling centres; extended access at Søndersø includes garden waste and free compost.
