Practical waste information

Municipal waste rules

In Rebild Municipality, residents sort waste into ten types: residual waste, food waste, cardboard, paper, textiles, food and beverage cartons, plastic, metal, hazardous waste and glass. Food waste is collected separately from residual waste in divided containers, while recyclable waste follows another collection schedule. Food waste must be placed in closed plastic bags, not paper or biodegradable bags. The municipality aims to increase recycling in line with national targets.

Waste services

Nordværk handles waste services

Day-to-day waste handling in Rebild Municipality has moved to Nordværk. Nordværk handles collection, recycling centres, prices, operational status and practical guidance, while the municipal council adopts the waste plan and regulations.

Rebild Affald app

The Rebild Affald app can be used for collection days, bulky waste, sorting guidance, recycling-centre opening hours, notifications, missed collections and ordering or replacing bins.

Three recycling centres

Rebild Municipality has recycling centres in Sørup, Mejlby and Krastrup. At the recycling centre, residents can deliver waste that is not daily household waste, and waste should be sorted before arrival.

Bulky waste and self-service

Bulky waste can be ordered through the app or self-service solution. Self-service can also be used for notifications, missed collections and ordering an extra or different bin.

Construction waste and asbestos

Construction and demolition waste must be reported if the volume exceeds 1 tonne, affects more than 10 m2 or involves more than five fibre-cement sheets. Private residents may deliver up to five sheets per year at recycling centres; more must be taken to Nordværk Rærup.

Waste plan and regulations

Rebild Municipality's Waste Plan 2021-2026 is based on national climate and waste goals. The municipality sets the regulations even though day-to-day operations are handled by Nordværk.
