Municipal waste rules
In Rebild Municipality, residents sort waste into ten types: residual waste, food waste, cardboard, paper, textiles, food and beverage cartons, plastic, metal, hazardous waste and glass. Food waste is collected separately from residual waste in divided containers, while recyclable waste follows another collection schedule. Food waste must be placed in closed plastic bags, not paper or biodegradable bags. The municipality aims to increase recycling in line with national targets.

Municipal waste service information
Sorting guidance
The Rebild Affald app has a searchable sorting guide. Nordværk also publishes the 2026 waste handbook with practical rules, a road list and calendars for recyclable and bulky-waste collections.
Bulky waste
You can book bulky-waste collection eight times a year on fixed dates through the app or self-service. Textile waste can be collected, but hazardous waste, construction waste, soil, roots, stones, windows and stoves are among the items excluded.
Hazardous waste
Hazardous waste must not be placed out as bulky waste. It must be delivered to a recycling centre according to Nordværk's instructions; leftover medicine and needles must be returned to a pharmacy.
Garden waste and composting
Garden waste can be booked with bulky waste when placed in paper sacks or tied in bundles. It can also be delivered at the Sørup, Mejlby and Krastrup recycling centres, and the municipality provides guidance on home composting suitable green waste.
