In Roskilde Municipality, household waste is sorted into trash categories such as plastic, paper, glass, metal, food waste and textiles. Bio bags are provided for food waste, and extra bags can be requested by tying a bag to the food/residual waste container. Bulky waste and garden waste schemes are available, while ARGO recycling centres accept electronics, hazardous waste and construction waste. The Perfect Waste app provides sorting guidance and collection reminders.

In Perfect Waste you can view all collection dates and receive reminders and operational information for your address. The collection calendar can also be downloaded as a PDF through municipal self-service using MitID; the standard food and residual-waste bin is collected every two weeks.
Perfect Waste can scan barcodes and includes a searchable guide for items without a barcode. Roskilde also provides printable sorting material and an English-language sorting guide.
Bulky waste is an optional paid service. A household can choose a subscription with six collections per year or purchase a single collection, with the waste either packed in sacks or placed loose in accordance with the service requirements.
Hazardous waste is collected in the red box. Place it at the property boundary by 5 a.m. on collection day, write the address on the label, ensure the lid closes fully and keep it under 4 kg; medicine and needles must go to a pharmacy.
The garden-waste service is an optional subscription with eight collections from 1 March to 30 October plus Christmas-tree collection in January. Garden waste can also be taken to municipal recycling centres or composted at home when suitable.
