In Rudersdal Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten trash categories, including paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, food and beverage cartons, textiles, food waste, residual waste and hazardous waste. Containers vary by housing type, with divided containers for single-family homes and shared containers for apartment buildings. Hazardous waste and textiles are delivered to recycling stations, and residents are encouraged to use recycling stations for electronics and other recyclable waste.

In Mit Affald and the Perfect Waste app, you can view collection days, change services and report missed collections. Residual and food waste are normally collected every two weeks, paper/cardboard and plastic/cartons every four weeks, and glass/metal every eight weeks.
Perfect Waste contains Rudersdal's digital sorting guide and shows the services registered at the address. The app and Mit Affald also provide the calendar, service updates and ordering of extra collections or bins.
Bulky waste is booked through Mit Affald or Perfect Waste and is covered by the mandatory basic charge. Place it by the pavement no later than 6 a.m. and separate it into the municipality's eight types, including large rigid plastic, electronics, furniture, mattresses and textile waste.
The environmental box is collected by booking four times a year through Mit Affald or Perfect Waste. Light bulbs, chemicals and other hazardous waste must go in the box or be taken to a Norfors recycling centre; medicine must be returned to a pharmacy.
Garden-waste collection is an optional subscription. The bin or bundled branches must be placed at the road boundary by 6 a.m.; bundles must use biodegradable string. The municipality also recommends keeping leaves, brushwood and other suitable material in the garden.
