Municipal waste rules

In Rudersdal Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions, including paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, food and beverage cartons, textiles, food waste, residual waste and hazardous waste. Containers vary by housing type, with divided containers for single-family homes and shared containers for apartment buildings. Hazardous waste and textiles are delivered to recycling stations, and residents are encouraged to use recycling stations for electronics and other recyclable waste.

Waste services

Waste and recycling

Rudersdal Municipality provides self-service for waste schemes, collection calendars, missed collections, bin changes, environmental boxes and ordering bulky waste and garden waste. The municipality also refers residents to the Perfect Waste app for overview and notifications.

Collection rhythms

Residual and food waste are normally collected every 14 days. Paper/cardboard and plastic/food and beverage cartons are collected every 4 weeks, while glass/metal are collected every 8 weeks.

Hazardous waste and textiles

The environmental box and textile bags are collected four times a year by booking. Textile waste must be dry and clean and handed in using the supplied bag or a clear plastic bag.

Bulky waste

Bulky waste is collected by booking and must be placed out no earlier than the evening before collection. The waste must be clearly sorted into the fractions specified by the municipality.

Blokken Recycling Centre

Rudersdal residents can use Blokken Recycling Centre in Birkerød and other Norfors recycling centres. Waste is sorted into many fractions, and usable items can go to direct reuse.

Construction waste and asbestos

Construction waste and asbestos must be reported and packaged according to municipal rules. Smaller amounts of asbestos waste can be handed in at the recycling centre if correctly packaged.
