Municipal waste rules
In Skanderborg Municipality, Renosyd manages waste collection and provides containers for household sorting. Residents sort trash categories such as food waste, residual waste, glass, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, textiles, hazardous waste and electronics. Food and residual waste are collected every two weeks, while recyclable trash categories are collected less frequently. The waste plan focuses on reducing waste and promoting recycling, supported by a waste app with sorting guidance and collection reminders.

Municipal waste service information
Sorting guidance
Mit Renosyd includes a searchable sorting guide, and Renosyd publishes an illustrated sorting leaflet for private homes. In Skanderborg and Ry, the newer AI-assisted guide can also help identify a waste item.
Bulky waste
Bulky waste is booked in Mit Renosyd and must be separated and placed out according to the instructions shown during booking. Excluded waste can be delivered to Renosyd's local sites in Skanderborg, Hørning, Ry and Galten-Skovby.
Hazardous waste
The red hazardous-waste box is placed on top of a bin on collection day when full. It must be closed and may weigh no more than 4 kg; a household may also deliver up to 25 kg per day and 200 kg per year at a recycling centre.
Garden waste and composting
The owner can opt into a fixed bin for garden-waste collection, and garden waste can always be delivered to Renosyd's recycling centres. Renosyd also recommends brushwood piles or dead hedges so branches, leaves and cuttings can remain in the garden and create habitats.
