In Sorø Municipality, waste collection is administered by AffaldPlus, with sorting into trash categories such as residual waste, food waste, plastic, glass, metal, paper and cardboard. Residents can order collection of bulky waste and hazardous waste, while garden waste is collected seasonally. Since the expansion of the scheme, households use multiple containers to support sorting. AffaldPlus provides a waste ABC and collection calendar.

AffaldPlus self-service and collection calendar show collections and can be used to report problems or change services. For detached homes, food/residual waste is normally collected every two weeks, plastic/cartons and paper/small cardboard every three weeks, and glass/metal every twelve weeks.
Sorø's searchable Affalds-ABC shows both the correct category and whether an item can be collected as bulky or garden waste. AffaldPlus also provides sorting booklets and separate guides for detached homes and properties with shared systems.
Bulky waste is collected by booking up to four times a year. A maximum of six units is accepted per collection, normally no more than 20 kg each; waste must be separated as individual items or in clear sacks, while construction waste, sanitary ware and vehicle parts are excluded.
Hazardous waste, small electronics, batteries and light bulbs are collected in the red environmental box. Exchange is booked through AffaldPlus' collection service; items not permitted in the box must be taken to Sorø or Dianalund recycling centre.
Garden waste is collected by booking every four weeks from March to October. It can also be taken to the recycling centres or the round-the-clock garden-waste site in Stenlille; suitable green waste can be composted at home.
