In Stevns Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten trash categories: food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metal, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste. The municipality provides containers for households, and food waste must be packed in special bags provided by the municipality. Containers must be accessible for collection, and hazardous waste must be delivered separately to recycling stations.

RenoWeb and Perfect Waste show collection days and can be used to report service issues. Food and residual waste are normally collected every two weeks and weekly from June to August, while large cardboard is collected every four weeks.
Perfect Waste can scan barcodes and help with local sorting. Stevns also provides illustrated PDF guides for ordinary homes and shared systems, with translations into English and German.
Stevns does not provide ordinary mixed bulky-waste collection from homes. Bulky waste must be delivered in clear sacks or as sorted items to the ARGO sites in Store Heddinge or Hårlev, which can be used every day of the week.
The environmental box is collected four times a year and must be placed at the road boundary by 6 a.m. on collection day. Write the address on the cleaned replacement box; hazardous waste can also be taken to a recycling centre, and medicine must go to a pharmacy.
Garden waste is collected twice a year, during scheduled spring and autumn weeks, and pickup may take place between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Check the address-specific week in RenoWeb or Perfect Waste; garden waste can also be taken to recycling centres year-round or composted at home.
