Municipal waste rules

In Syddjurs Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten fractions, including residual waste, food waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste. Reno Djurs manages the waste scheme, and residents must use the containers provided and follow the collection calendar. Recycling centres accept hazardous waste, electronics and other waste types not collected at home. Home composting of garden waste is encouraged where appropriate.

Reno Djurs handles waste

Syddjurs Municipality refers residents to Reno Djurs for sorting, collection dates, waste containers and recycling centres. Reno Djurs is the joint waste company for Norddjurs and Syddjurs municipalities.

Recycling centres on Djursland

Private households in Syddjurs can use Reno Djurs' recycling centres. Local sites in Syddjurs are located in Ebeltoft, Feldballe, Hornslet, Knebel and Ryomgård, and residents can also use the other Reno Djurs centres.

Hazardous waste and textiles

Hazardous waste is delivered to recycling centres, while textile waste is sorted according to Reno Djurs guidance. Bags for food waste and textile waste are supplied through the Reno Djurs scheme.

Garden waste

Burning garden waste is generally not allowed for private residents. Garden waste can instead be delivered to the recycling centre for composting or composted at home.

Construction waste and asbestos

Construction, renovation and demolition waste must be reported to Syddjurs Municipality no later than two weeks before work begins. Smaller amounts of construction waste can be delivered to recycling centres, while hazardous construction waste is not accepted there.
