In Vallensbæk Municipality, household waste is sorted into ten trash categories: food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, textiles, food and beverage cartons and hazardous waste. Food and residual waste are collected in a divided container, while containers for plastic, paper and metal are emptied regularly. Recycling and waste can also be delivered to local recycling stations or collected through bulky waste schemes. The municipality cooperates with Vestforbrænding to support correct sorting and recycling.

In Vallensbæk's self-service portal you can view collection days, report missed collections and change bin size or frequency. The divided food/residual-waste bin is normally collected weekly but can be set to fortnightly outside the summer period.
The municipality's digital sorting guidance and self-service show the solution for each address and housing type. Larger or unusual items are directed to bulky-waste collection or Vestforbrænding recycling stations.
Bulky waste is collected according to the address-specific calendar and must be clearly separated into the specified waste types so each pile can be collected separately. Accepted items depend on housing type; construction waste and other excluded materials go to a recycling station.
Detached and terraced homes use an environmental box placed visibly by the food/residual-waste bin on collection day. Apartment buildings may have an environmental cabinet or another shared solution; larger quantities must be handed to recycling-station staff.
Garden waste is collected through the municipality's address-based service and can also be taken to a recycling station in the Vestforbrænding area. Leaves, brushwood and other suitable material can be composted or kept in the garden, while soil and stones must be separated.
