Municipal waste rules
In Vejle Municipality, household waste is sorted into trash categories including food waste, residual waste, paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and glass. Food waste must be placed in green bags provided for the purpose. Detached and terraced houses use divided containers, and collection frequency depends on waste type. The municipality offers an app with collection dates and sorting guidance, and recycling centres accept bulky and hazardous waste. The waste and resource plan supports waste reduction and green transition toward 2032.

Municipal waste service information
Sorting guidance
Vejle's searchable sorting guide shows the solution both at home and at recycling centres. A printable complete guide and sorting material are also available in German, Polish, English, Ukrainian and Romanian.
Bulky waste
The Genbrugsbil collects selected larger items such as cardboard, expanded polystyrene, electronics and textiles by booking. Waste must be separated and placed out according to the booking instructions; household waste, garden waste and excluded materials go to one of the municipality's four sites.
Hazardous waste
Small hazardous items are collected in the red box, while larger containers and special types must be delivered to the chemical-waste building at a recycling centre. Packaging must be closed and labelled; sharps boxes are available free from pharmacies in Vejle Municipality.
Garden waste and composting
An optional paid service provides a garden-waste bin, with additional bins available if needed. Garden waste can also be taken to a recycling centre or composted at home; garden soil and invasive plants must follow their separate instructions.
