Municipal waste rules
In Viborg Municipality, household waste is sorted into trash categories including food waste, residual waste, paper, glass, metal and plastic. New durable containers are used, with food and residual waste typically collected every two weeks and recyclables every four weeks. Viborg Municipality aims to increase recycling and minimise waste through its waste plan. Recycling centres accept hazardous waste and large items, and Revas offers SMS reminders for collection days.

Municipal waste service information
Sorting guidance
Revas provides a searchable sorting guide in AffaldViborg plus an illustrated guide and poster covering the ten waste types. The material explains household bins, the environmental box and delivery at the six recycling stations.
Bulky waste
Viborg Municipality does not provide household bulky-waste collection. Furniture, appliances and other large items must be sorted and delivered to the stations in Viborg, Bjerringbro, Karup, Møldrup, Stoholm or Ørum.
Hazardous waste
Household hazardous waste is collected in the red environmental box or delivered to a recycling station. For shared waste systems, equipment and collection method are agreed with Revas; asbestos and other special types follow separate rules.
Garden waste and composting
Viborg does not provide ordinary household garden-waste collection. It must be delivered to a recycling station or composted at home; Revas provides composting guidance, and burning is only permitted under the narrow conditions in municipal rules.
